For Grades 3-5...Every year a new list of twenty books, which includes several genres of literature, are placed on the Texas Bluebonnet list. Students who read or hear five of these titles by the middle of January are eligible to vote for their favorite one. The votes of the Allen students are submitted to Austin where they will be included in the state count that determines a winning Bluebonnet title of the twenty. Students who read five Bluebonnet titles will also be able to participate in a Bluebonnet Voting Celebration. At Allen, students can read the Bluebonnet Books independently, with a family member or friend, or with the classroom teacher.
To come to the Bluebonnet Voting Celebration in January, 3-5th graders are invited to join the Allen Bluebonnet Book classroom in Google. My code is 7mvnzua. Participants are asked to create one book project for each BB they read. Project ideas are a digital poster, video of self making a book talk, short slide show, etc. These are just suggestions. The sky is the limit! I can't wait to see the creative projects of our Allen readers and will be sure to share on our Allen Reads Blog.
